Food & Drink
Head to the bustling China Town Yangon, a vibrant street brimming with local delicacies. Follow the crowds along this slightly chaotic street and you’ll enjoy a glimpse of everyday life as you watch locals buying ripe fruit in bulk and going about their business. First created in the 1850s when the British expanded the city, today the market abounds with take-away stalls, offering simple plastic chairs and tables for seating. Although famed for its Myanmar Chinese barbecue, you’ll find a huge variety of weird and wonderful food on offer. Grab a beer, find a seat, and take in all of the sights and smells that surround you. If you buy fruit at the market, wash it before consumption. See China Town Yangon and all Yangon (Rangoon) has to offer by arranging your trip with our Yangon (Rangoon) vacation builder.

  • Most of the Yangon downtown road grid is Chinatown. It's interesting, colourful, messy, full of food (nowhere very good, nowhere very bad either), relatively cheap, rat-infested, hot, friendly. Totally worth a visit. If you speak Chinese, do so! They'll understand and reply in Chinese, and maybe you'll get more real prices instead of tourist prices.
  • Not a big fun of china town in Yangon. The atmosphere is the one I like. Food is OK but a bit over priced
  • A little pricey for Yangon food but the BBQ is amazing. Quite a few restaurants along the street have grills setup and prices are all pretty similar. Great selection of different veggies and meats, plus lots of Myanmar beer available.
  • Fantastic nightlife ambience with loads of food and cheap food. Service here is somewhat excellent as they know which table to serve to
  • If you want to hang out in the evening with a couple of cold beers and some BBQ skewers this is the place. A few different restaurants along the road here to choose from. Great atmosphere with locals and tourists alike enjoying the night life.
