(1,200+ reviews on the web)
Flea Market
Browse through Burmese handicrafts, foodstuffs, jewelry, paintings, lacquerware, and various hill-tribe textiles at Bogyoke Aung San Market, a major bazaar in downtown Yangon set in a large colorful colonial building. Also known as Scott’s Market among those who remember the British rule, the market serves as the city's most popular tourist destination for shopping. With over 1,600 shops, the loosely organized market offers a wide range of choices for local products, with streets around the covered market also offering a variety of goods. Try pork noodles in garlic oil, washed down with an avocado shake. Put Bogyoke Aung San Market and other Yangon (Rangoon) attractions into our Yangon (Rangoon) tour planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • A large shopping area in South Yangon with many small shops and stands. If you want to be able to see many different jewelry vendors for example there are many to be had. Lots of local products and as you might expect many shops with similar products. The shops cover a fairly large area and half a day can easily be spent exploring. There are places to eat and also various service shops like barber shops. The times i have gone the crowds are very manageable and not overwhelming. We spent more than a few dollars there on local art and supporting local artists.
  • It is a historical place and tourists attraction. Most of the tourists come to Myanmar also visit here to see Colonial Building and buy variety items. You can also visit to St.Mary Church next there.
  • Fantastic place for authentic handicrafts gems and jewelry I have been hundreds of times and will go hundreds more coz if you bargain well there are bargains galore
  • A historic landmark and Burma's greatest market of all time. Situated in the city's heart, it really is an attraction for the travellers. This market is the centre of Burmese jewellery trade (and, formerly the currency exchange market), and it has got a variety of goods in its stalls. Worth visiting.
  • One of the tourist attraction place in Yangon. There are many jewellery and souvenir shops in this market.
