Indein Village, Taunggyi

(4.7/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Located on the western bank of Inle Lake, the hillside village of Indein Village offers many cultural landmarks and holy sites nearby. On the summit of the tallest hill, a pagoda shelters a Buddha idol, while hundreds of smaller ancient stupas overgrown with vegetation dot the landscape below. Feel the cool breeze and hear the temple bells ringing as you ascend towards the top for a view of the surrounding natural scenery. You can also visit the mysterious Indein creek, which has narrow twists and turns and a bamboo dam used to irrigate the rice paddies. Days can get very hot and exhausting, so carry extra water during your trek. Plan to visit Indein Village during your Taunggyi vacation using our convenient Taunggyi vacation builder.

  • A great site! It's very moving to see all these stupas dating back to some of the 11 th century

  • If you are near the Inle Lake I recommend to go see are wonderful expanse of stupas within a couple of hours by bus! The entrance fee includes a local guide very prepared that will explain the whole story. Visit highly recommended!

  • That's far enough, but it's to see, as part of your tour on the Lake, a "field" of stupas, old and new, original photos and colors guaranteed! we regret just the large aisle quite tiring late in the day but especially filled with vendors, it must the courage to go up to the end, a shame for a site like this. We did not visit the village, I don't know if it was to do?
