Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery, Nyaung Shwe

Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4/5 based on 130+ reviews on the web
Now a teaching place for disadvantaged male youth, Shwe Yan Pyay Monastery attracts visitors to observe monks and their daily routines. Young boys come to the red-hued teak structure to learn and become monks. Not overly decorated, the building's main features of interest are its oval windows--cut into the wooden walls--and some smaller carvings. Watch as the boys go about their daily routines, or join a prayer. Be advised that taking photos of the boys, or anyone inside, is prohibited.
