The capital of a former kingdom of the same name, Mrauk-U still shows signs of its past prosperity. During the kingdom’s peak--between the 15th and 18th centuries--a number of administrative and religious buildings sprouted up in the area. See the stone-brick temples and sanctuaries around the palace, and ask a local to recount to you the area's most famous legend. According to the tale, the first prince of the kingdom was born from an egg laid by a female monkey. Mrauk-U is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Mrauk U Edition.
