Mandalay Fort, Mandalay

(1.4/5 based on 80 reviews on the web)
See a replica of the last royal palace of the monarchy of Burma at Mandalay Fort. Since the original, centuries-old citadel was destroyed during World War II, the government restored it to look authentic in the 1990s. Explore the site that was the nation's capital until the end of the 19th century, when it became popular as a tourist attraction with its historical and cultural significance. Admire the architecture on display, which captures the country's characteristic style. See Mandalay Fort and all Mandalay has to offer by arranging your trip with our Mandalay trip itinerary builder.

  • It is a square-shaped Castle is surrounded by a pretty good moat 64 m in width, depth 4.5 m. Castle falls at no. 3: Anglo-Burmese wars. From the age I don't think efforts made in a short period of time is a big thing, but already had a medium-range artillery.

  • The Fort is on the standard route of most tourists. Because the Fort is in military restricted area you need a registration at the entrance without a guide/driver with his original passport. The Fort is a liebloser construction to the no longer existing original plant, therefore we were off again after a short running through.

  • Worth a quick visit without losing too much more time than you think. You can buy the entrance of the archaeological site at the entrance of the Castle and rented some bikes for 1500 Kyat to not lose time.
