Shwe Oo Min Paya, Kalaw

(4.2/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web)
See rows of golden Buddha statues at Shwe Oo Min Paya, a natural limestone cave so well-proportioned that it look as though it was carefully engineered. Walk along the tunnels to see various Buddha images and statues in the cave, which has special religious significance. Some locals meditate inside the cave, and you can join them if you feel in the mood. Take the stairs to the top of the area, where you can enjoy views of more shrines in the region. • A fabulous universe: thousands of Buddhas in gold, sparkling under the lights arranged in the caves... A labyrinth of bays that up and down, narrow more often... Fabulous and disconcerting!... In my opinion, a single site in the world where the hand of man meets nature!...
