Buphaya Paya, Bagan
Categories: Sacred & Religious Sites, Tourist Spots
Visit the oldest pagoda in Bagan, Buphaya Paya. Legend says that the king, having destroyed gourds (an infectuous plant) from the riverbanks, built the pagoda in the shape of that plant to celebrate his achievement. Take a look at the bulbous shape of the gilded dome, and experience the view, since the temple overlooks the river. Today's pagoda represents a reconstruction from 1975; the original was destroyed in an earthquake. You can get the nice and beautiful sunset view at this Pagoda and take the boat for river sight see and to Tant Kyi Taung Pagoda that's on the west river side mountain from Bagan.
It must be a remarkable visit for me why we could make cleaning a bit by sweeping the floor in the premise of pagoda. It must be said a nice place to visit and there is a boat port to across the river to go to Tant Kyi mountain on the other side.
