Designed by Gustave Eiffel, Casa de Ferro (The Iron House) perplexes its visitors with its impractical building material highly unsuitable for a hot tropical climate. Built of Eiffel’s signature material--cast iron and iron sheets--the house was constructed in Belgium and shipped to Mozambique where it was assembled with bolts on concrete foundations. Originally intended for the governor’s residence but never occupied, the house now provides a home for an amateur writers association. The nearby botanical garden is also worth visiting. Good monument. But nothing much to see despite the exterior of the house itself. Recommend it for tourists as it has a good cultural vibe.

To be completely honest here, being a resident in this wonderful city and visiting places abroad with a lot of history to be learned i decided to visit a few places considered "patrimonio histórico" historic landmarks of the city, Startin with this one. We have artists on the front of the house selling traditional and handmade sculptures, jewelry, paintings and more. The inside is well preserved and part of it is open to the public.
