Ensemble Artisanal, Marrakech

#4 of 121 in Shopping in Marrakech
Gift & Specialty Shop · Hidden Gem · Shopping
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the souks at Ensemble Artisanal, a government-run market where artisans create traditional goods and sell them directly to visitors. Even if you're not in the mood to buy, come for the chance to watch the artists at work: witness the careful sculpting of each wooden animal and intricate instrument, the decorating and stitching of leather poufs, and the firing of hand-thrown tagines. The set prices for each product mean you needn't worry about haggling, and the money goes directly to the producers, helping to keep traditional crafting methods alive and profitable for the artisans. PutEnsemble Artisanal into our Marrakech trip tool and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • This is a lovely "centre" near the Old Part of Marrakesh, some "shops" there are maybe not quite "made on the premises", but well worth a visit - great people and they deserve our support.  more »

  • Not a bargain, and not what it seems Basically, this is a mall specializing fairly expensive gift/art/craft related items. These items are of mostly reasonably good quality... but are factory made.....  more »
  • A more Western style shopping experience for Moroccan goods. Prices already listed (and lower than I usually manage to haggle for). Shopkeepers just let you browse. Very relaxed.
  • Lots of great little shops to browse. No pressure to buy anything. No bartering. Gives you a good idea of the real value of the goods you will find on the markets. So you have a baseline for bartering with the local traders
  • Excellent, relaxed way to find some good quality crafts, speak with the owner/craftsman, and find out more without the Souk bargaining treatment. This is a Co-op that is sponsored by the government, and has listed prices. We found them very reasonable. Virtually everything you can imagine, with a focus on jewelry and leather goods.
  • Went here several times on our visit to Marrakech and loved it! The prices were about the same as you’d pay in the souks with a more relaxing experience. You can also find higher quality crafted items which I believe are worth the more expensive price. Highly recommended!
  • Good place to go for genuine morrocan products. A nicer environment than the souks, no pushy salesmen and fixed price goods! Have a wander around the Cyber Park just opposite after or before your visit here, it's a very nice garden area! This is a very calm atmosphere, wasn't busy at all when we went either. Didn't end up buying anything but nice to look around.
