A royal complex of buildings and gardens, Bahia Palace dates back to the 1860s. • The Palace changed the concept in my head to see it here. Unlike Europe and Ottoman Palace; the Majesty of colors, mosaics and wood carving/machining the admiration of a Palace. You will surely see

  • Beautiful old palace ruins with a garden and bits of beautiful tiles. You can also see an “underground” prison where they put their slaves back in the days. Some information is in English but most are in French and Arabic. It can be busy! The entrance is DH10 and an additional DH10 if you want to see a beautiful imam chair.
  • The place opens at 9am and not at 8.30. I would recommend being there before it opens so you can explore the grounds before it gets too crowded. I dod this and by the time I finished it was filling up with tourists. Beautiful palace.
  • Get there early if you want photos without tour groups. It is possible as this palace opens at 8am and the tours didn't seem to arrive until at least 9. It's well kept and has lots of tile walls and floors but the best of this monument is upwards... The painted cedar ceilings are amazing.
  • Tourist attraction. The remains of the palace of the king of Morocco named after his wife. Set in sheer splendor and opulence typical of the culture. Lush green gardens. Cedar wood. Stained glass. Marble tiles. Alabaster pillars. The king lived here with his wives.
  • Magnificent palace from the end of the 19th century. Well preserved throughout. Definitely a must see for anyone traveling to Marrakech. And with a ticket price of only 10 Dh, definitely a bargain.

Where to stay in Marrakech

Marrakech boasts a huge number of lodgings, concentrated mostly near the medina or in the "Ville Nouvelle." For a budget-friendly stay, opt for one of the hostels or affordable hotels that line the historic quarter's narrow alleyways. Many travelers choose to stay in a restored mansion that serves as a hotel--you'll find this type of accommodation plentiful in Marrakech. In the new part of town, you'll encounter a number of quality mid-market hotels with modern facilities.
