A huge thanks to Mohamed and his team for my recent trekking trip based at M’Hamid and Oulad Driss in the pre-Sahara desert. All was very well organised. The accommodation was comfortable with... more »
Picked up on time by very friendly driver in a nice comfy people carrier. He allowed us to relax and take in the scenery while chatting about the important stuff we shouldn't miss. The Berber house... more »
I stayed 4 months in Morocco in which I booked 3 activities with this agency; Atlas mountains & Sahara, mountainbiking in the Afagay desert and a day trip to the Atlas mountains. I would recommend... more »
From the pick up in marakesh to the drop off, we were made to feel truly important and like our guides were completely at our service. Our Mostaffa for the Toubkal trek was brilliant, although his English was not great which led to confusion at times he was very conscientious and looked out for us the entire way making us feel safe. Having done some climbing before without a guide I was hesitant about having one, but it really took away the stress and having most of the kit on the donkey and meals cooked for us was a luxury we are not used to and thoroughly enjoyed. The food was authentic and traditional and tasted great, and they taylored the menu to my partners vegitariansism which was considerate as these were often different meals entirely, to mine, containing meat. The muel for the trek was well looked after too which is more than I can say for a lot of the others we saw on our travels in use by other tour company's Out overnight stay in imlil was nice and the recurring theme of good Moroccan hospitality continued here. The hotel was no frills but the lady who worked there/ owned it was so hospitable, if happily have stayed much longer Our driver for the second part of the trip and our desert guide were again very considerate and stopped plenty for photos and coffee and gave us a thorough introduction into Berber music which we will always have fond memories of. The driver made us feel safe despite the craziness of some of the roads and helped the guide to explain about the places we were going. He also bought us a rose flower garland as an engagement gift which we were really taken aback by. Out guides English was far from perfect so I found my lonely planet guide useful at some of the stops, but where his English was lacking he made up for ten fold in the effort he applied to giving us a good time. At times it was like we had hired a proffesional photographer to capture us on our trip, which my fiances loved as she loves photos but I hate taking them. And he was the only guide who actually accompanied his clients into the Sahara. Most just left theirs at the hotel and picked them up the following day after that section was done. Ours walked alongsideour camels. Taking photos, translating some of what the camel guide was saying and he really enjoying the whole trip himself. Which was refreshing to not feel like he had done it 100 times and was bored of it. I have tried to avoid talking about the actual trip and how amazing the places we went to were as that would be no different from tour company to your company. But If you are considering a road trip across Morocco or a trip up Toubkal I can say it's an amazing trip and Active treks is a great company to go with, it was made to feel very personal, even from the booking stages, talking to Mohamed. There is alot of driving involved and the trek requires effort. But if you are happy with those conditions than I highly recommend going on this trip with Mohamed/ Active treks Morocco
