  • I can't believe this is considered a must-see in Fès. I understand the significance for the Jewish community, but this is not an interesting synagogue nor is it beautiful compared to others.  more »
  • While walking through the Jewish quarter where Jews already left last left for Israel, the Guide led us in this ancient synagogue, more similar to a dwelling house. Ibn Danan Synagogue was built in the 17 century. Around it built a strong wall, but the main difference of this place from others was not a fence, and the peculiarity of architecture: all homes face not traditionally in the courtyard and the street. Quarter Mella became the first Jewish in Morocco. Due to disrepair, it was necessary to restore the synagogue, so in 1999, held a huge renovation. Externally, the building looks just like a House, with an ordinary door and highly placed Windows. To the right of the entrance, on the door frame, is a mezuzah. In the past, owners of the synagogues were representatives of the family Ben-natives of Danan Sefarda. Look at the Torah, on the terrace, but not impressed. visit is not necessary if you are not interested in Sephardic history in Morocco.

  • Nicely preserved historical icon. Hard to find because it's not well marked but the locals will happily guide you there.
  • It's a beautiful place to visit very spiritual I loved it
  • Mediocre at best, I don't understand the good ratings, nice architecture but the tour is given by a man that has no idea about the history of the place and doesn't speak English, you can see toys around the place like if there is a family living there, they said we could go to the terrace, which is just the roof of the place with clothes hanging around. Not worth the 20 dirham.
  • Historic synagogue in the Fes Mellah (Jewish quarter) of the city. The community has largely disappeared from the city but the building is preserved and maintained.
  • It does not justify the trip to the Jewish quarter. But if you are there, the visit is interesting.
