Create an itinerary including Bab Bou Jeloud
Take the picturesque entrance to the old quarter by passing through Bab Bou Jeloud, a grand archway covered in blue mosaics. Built in 1913, the monumental gate was originally intended to provide protection for the medina; however, the advent of heavy artillery compromised its effectiveness, so it opted instead to intimidate with its attractiveness. The shimmering blue mosaic features floral patterns, geometric shapes, and calligraphy. Today, locals and tourists use this local landmark as a meeting place. • Introduced to us as "the Blue Gate", this is certainly a beautifully decorated and designed gate/ entrance to the old town/ medina area. Lots of shops and stalls nearby, and a very obvious meeting...

  • Bab boujloud is the perfect spot to start a city tour of the old Medina. It is close to a large parking. It has good shops and restaurants along the way.

  • Blue gate becomes tourists attraction. One of the major gate that was built in 1913. Behind the gate you will discover Moroccan history. And, you will see arts and crafts, food and fun shopping here. Fascinating local market with lots of local products. Affordable prices. I was very excited and had a good time, so much fun here. However, mind your wallet. It crowded here.
  • Very nice place. It's being renovated now (the buildings in front of the gates are removed) , there'll be a nice garden and a big parking place underneath (14-aug-2022)
  • This is basically the famous gate in Medina. This gate is the entrance to never ending bazaar in the old city fo Fez. From souvenir to delights, restaurants, veggies and meat market. They have everything here. If you like to explore this is the definitely the gate to everything. Enjoy!😉
  • The area around the blue gate, one of the 14th doors of Fes, is amazing. Many streets of markets and local pieces of art.
  • HIRE A TOUR-GUIDE IF YOU HAVE A BABY. or don’t go to the blue gate more than once😂. On the first night we arrived in the late afternoon, we wanted to just explore but stay close. We went by the blue gate…. I would say 3 times and were incessantly hounded to have tea and to hire a guide over and over and over again. So much so I wanted to leave…and just stay in the hotel. It wasn’t after we hired Ahmed who was born and raised in the Medina… when he was next to us NO ONE tried to ‘help us’ or even asked us to buy anything.
