Enter the world of Moroccan Jews at Museum of Moroccan Judaism, the only Jewish museum in the Arab world. Established in 1997, this ethnographic institution details the lives of what was once the largest Jewish population in the Muslim world--of which some 2,500 remain in the country. See restored period rooms with a typical Jewish interior, including carved brass plates, jewelry, books, old photographs, and various tools and documents. Three pavilions display 1,500 artifacts, including traditional costumes, scrolls, and various religious items. Check out the lush gardens surrounding the villa that houses the museum. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Casablanca holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Museum of Moroccan Judaism and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

We had big expectations from "the only Jewish museum in the Arab world". It is indeed unique, with a relatively large selection of jewelry as well as other Jewish related items from Morocco...

Lovely and interesting museum to learn about the long history of Judaism in Morocco. I wish there was more explanation though, as well as a gift shop/book store (perhaps with the images on display in the museum) because I definitely would have purchased some more info to take home!
-
Interesting array of traditional clothing, religious articles, etc from era gone by. Includes Aron HaKodesh, Bimah, etc from Synagogues no longer in use.
-
Great place to learn about history of Judaism in Morocco!
-
Moderately interesting collection of historical items from a few synagogues around Morocco. Unfortunately, no sense of the current population and practice of the faith.
-
