The Old Town, Ulcinj
(3.3/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
The Old Town is one of the oldest urban architectural complexes along the Adriatic Sea. Originally built by the Illyrians, it was restored many times during its history by the Byzantines, Venetians, and Ottomans. Stroll down the steep, cobblestone streets and pass by or visit souvenir shops, barber shops, and stores that emanate the spirit of the old Orient. A former church and mosque on the upper plateau of the fortress houses the city museum. Try the local lemonade or Turkish coffee at one of the many cafes. Attractions include the foundations of a 12th-century church, a Turkish powder magazine, a Venetian palace, and the Square of Cervantes, once known as the slave square. Don Quixote's mistress Dulcinea was named after the city of Ulcinj, where the novelist was imprisoned for five years. • Begin the acquaintance with the city best. And don't be embarrassed, that beside the entrance offers cemetery. From here a magnificent view, which can be changed at will, passing through the narrow streets from one restaurant to another.

  • It's a tiny place, 15 minutes and you have seen pretty much everything. There are some restaurants where you could spend time but they are expensive.
  • In Ulcinj, we went twice on the trip from the nearby Great Beaches. Due to the fact that it is a tourist resort here is plenty of parking in the crowded Centre, you can dream, but there are plenty of attractions that are worth seeing, including the old town and museums. In the old town there are several restaurants with terraces, from which is a very nice views to the Mala plaža, as well as the entire city. The site is suitable for lovers of photography, because there are many ideas for your photos. Definitely worth a visit.
