3.4/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web
The Old Town is one of the oldest urban architectural complexes along the Adriatic Sea. Originally built by the Illyrians, it was restored many times during its history by the Byzantines, Venetians, and Ottomans. Stroll down the steep, cobblestone streets and pass by or visit souvenir shops, barber shops, and stores that emanate the spirit of the old Orient. A former church and mosque on the upper plateau of the fortress houses the city museum. Try the local lemonade or Turkish coffee at one of the many cafes. Attractions include the foundations of a 12th-century church, a Turkish powder magazine, a Venetian palace, and the Square of Cervantes, once known as the slave square. Don Quixote's mistress Dulcinea was named after the city of Ulcinj, where the novelist was imprisoned for five years. • In Ulcinj, we went twice on the trip from the nearby Great Beaches. Due to the fact that it is a tourist resort here is plenty of parking in the crowded Centre, you can dream, but there are plenty of attractions that are worth seeing, including the old town and museums. In the old town there are several restaurants with terraces, from which is a very nice views to the Mala plaža, as well as the entire city. The site is suitable for lovers of photography, because there are many ideas for your photos. Definitely worth a visit.

  • In his journey through Montenegro we specifically and separate item highlighted, Ulcinj and its old town. Not quite positive reviews about this place only roused our curiosity. In the old town we scheduled night, so time for inspection and acquaintance with dostami was enough. Of course, historical places deserve their visit and inspection. Especially if there is a guide or know the history and legends about these places. Then the inspection will be more fun. But most of all struck by themselves the narrow streets of the old town, where people live, and where still preserved the old way of life, albeit more modern. Very fun to watch and compare with our žit′em-byt′em.

  • Small old town on top of a hill, beautiful view of the surroundings, it is a pity that in the evening the buildings burn neon signs advertising hotels, which definitely storm atmosphere of the place.
