(4.8/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Climb to the top of , which offers bird's-eye views of the fjord and the Old Town from the height of 1,200 m (3937 ft). Together with the Old Town and its natural surroundings, the fortifications are listed as a World Heritage Site. The Illyrians, Byzantines, Venetians, and Austrians built the fortress between the ninth and 19th centuries. Take the main entrance near the River Gate and ask for a descriptive brochure identifying various towers, citadels, gates, bastions, forts, cisterns, and churches along the way. • Having read the reviews and watching photos with beautiful views, without a shadow of doubt I decided to try the ascent to the fortress. Initially, the road seems easy as insurmountable and is not painful, although on dilapidated steps. But it is a beginning. Difficulties with the resistance of the organism load start to experience already at the middle. And if not captured with a water (Yes more), the climb will be doomed to failure. While in the middle of the road there is the possibility to stock up at local businesses that offer a variety of drinks. The further you go, the harder. Legs tremble, wet t-shirt, breathing bursting breasts. Lo and behold ... here it is the pinnacle of my Everest. Dozens of people occupied the roof of a ruined strongholds, waiting for sunset. But, not to say that I was disappointed. No, just not as enthusiastically impressed can be expected to say pore Lil bastard .... But there was not enough air in the lungs. May weary and dehydrated. May not be prepared (physically and mentally). But the second time climb would not, it is not worth it. But if you ask me-do you regret that climbed on the Calvary? Answer-no, no regrets. Once it's worth. Believe me

  • A great place for hiking over rough terrain. We climbed out of the old city. Path found by chance and only on the way back, drew attention to the signs. When good training path on verkh takes no more than half an hour. But it is necessary to lay down the time for pictures. Types of there cool. In order to assess the overall scale, the Church of our Lady is about one-third of the way to the top. After the Church hang plaques with a warning that further danger zone begins. Basically, if you behave with caution and go on stairs, not dangerous. At the top of the climb and retired people and children. Now I have a goal to pass route on the other hand, the path for the Northern gates. But there the route a little longer.
