Moraca Monastery, Kolasin
(4.6/5 based on 95+ reviews on the web)
Moraca Monastery holds a copy of the original Oktoih--the first printed book of the southern Slavs in the Cyrillic alphabet from 1493. Look for the engraving above the Romanesque main portal, which testifies that Stefan Vukanovic, the Grand Prince of Zeta and the grandson of Stefan Nemanja, founded the monastery in 1252. The complex features two churches and lodgings for travelers. The 13th-century frescos in a chamber on the right side of the central apse illustrate 11 scenes from the life of the prophet Elijah. You also can see a mural depicting the prophet in the wilderness with a raven that is bringing him food. • Great location, right on the track. Free of charge. Beautiful place, beautiful temple. Really old. Around live novices. We passed even in living quarters and watched life. Very authentically. Worth a look.

  • Very nice old monastery, still in very good condition. A small stream course and the view of the canyon as well as hives give really useful instead. Too bad the flopped tourist of Russian origin who are not quiet outside the monastery.

  • This is nice picturesque place, worth visiting. Easy to access from main road, so it is a good place to take a break during your trip and visit it, take some pistures, and visit the monestary.

  • Small very beautiful Serbian Orthodox church with unusual frescoes and elaborate iconostasis. Look closely at the group frescoes because the stories portrayed are not the standardized ones from Greek Orthodox churches for example. Also check out small chapel on left off entrance/exit as you leave. Stories portrayed there are very different than anything I've seen in Russian or Greek Orthodox. Would have loved to have an explanation or brochure in English.
  • Brandy meets the quality if you buy honey, never bred. But in General, the place is beautiful. I advise you to look at.

  • I'm impressed. Maybe I saw a few monasteries, but this is simply amazing! The atmosphere of the surroundings, manicured yard with p′ânâŝami floral aromas and rich historical heritage is delight!

  • Beautiful monastery and district. Brandy entirely with flavors. Impressions are excellent. Hit during a tour of the canyons.
