Altstadt (Old Town) Budva, Budva

4.3
See the former city fortress, Altstadt (Old Town) Budva, a fully functional complex of antique structures filled with quaint restaurants, historical sites, and homes. As you approach the site from Budva's vibrant promenade, you'll observe its rugged walls, which preserve remnants of numerous cultures, spanning the 6th century BCE to the present day. Tour the narrow Venetian streets, see Roman baths, and visit museums that preserve ancient treasures, medical instruments, and miniature multicolored glass vessels where sailors kept their loved ones' tears, according to tradition. • Shikarnejshij old town. The small streets, dozens of restaurants and bars, a million chjudechnyh seals and a bunch of Greens.

  • After the earthquake of 1979, a part of the houses and the town wall was destroyed. Today everything is reconstructed but again in the Venetian style. Worth seeing is also the Church of John the Baptist.

  • The Budva Old Town is very similar to most on the cost of Croatia and Montenegro, the difference being its a bit smaller then most of them but the shops and restaurants inside are also a bit cheaper. ...  more »

  • Nice spot, be careful if you are taking a taxi to visit it. Make sure they give you a receipt of the agreed to price before hand. They will change the price on you. Nice place to shop and there are some places that will take credit card! Not the best old town to visit in Europe but a nice afternoon stroll forsure.
  • Walking in history. October season is perfect for an experience in Montenegro, not crowded and perfect weather. Beautiful sceneries of the outstanding mountains and lovely Balkan beaches.
  • The old city of Budva, protected by its city walls, will remind you of similar places like Kotor or Dubrovnik. Very well maintained, clean and inviting, the old city centre of Budva offers you little boutiques, restaurants and pubs shattered around in its narrow streets. There are a few open 'market' places, a couple of churches to visit and the city walls to walk on. In all, in less than an hour you will do the tour of the town. Nevertheless, a beautiful site!
  • This place is beautiful. Lots of small shops, restaurants and the views are amazing. Highly recommend this place
  • Old town is fully reconstructed to look like 17 century, during Venecians rule. Hence everything inside reminds of Venice. Small streets with lots of shops and cool stuff to buy )))

Where to stay in Budva

One of the prime tourist destinations on the Montenegrin coast, the city of Budva offers visitors numerous accommodations of all types. While those looking for luxury can opt for high-end hotels, lavishly decorated apartments, or seaside villas, travelers on a budget have a good choice of more affordable places to stay. These include a solid selection of hostels, boutique hotels, and self-catering lodgings. For the best scenery in the city, head to Budva’s historical old town: while accommodations here tend to be more expensive than in other areas, it’s the perfect spot for those who want quick access to the major sights, as well as cafes, restaurants, and bars. That said, it might not be the best neighborhood for those looking for more tranquil surroundings, especially at the peak of the summer season.
