Zaisan Memorial, Ulaanbaatar
(3.9/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
Pay tribute to the largest movement of motorized troops in the history of warfare at Zaisan Memorial, a monumental concrete sculpture perched on the top of a hill. A Soviet T34 tank mounted on a concrete pedestal commemorates the efforts of the World War II Mongolia People's Tank Brigade, which covered the distance from Moscow to Berlin. At the 360-degree observation deck, a concrete memorial in the shape of a colossal proletarian flag towers over a large curved mural depicting friendship between the peoples of the USSR and Mongolia. • Is a place where there is a monument commemorating the Soviet soldiers became the friendly Mongolian people's volunteer army, built in 1971. The mosaic was built as a sign of friendship with the Soviet army history, was very cool stuff. Also you can enjoy 360-degree views of the Ulan Bator because this place is in a circle!

  • A short hiking up the steps, for a great top view of Ulanbator city! Good photo point for the city view also a very interesting monument and history.
  • Its a nice place to view Ulaanbaatar from the top, located in the center of the town, easy to access with car and a great view of city of Ulaanbaatar.

  • Great view of the city. The monument itself is rather interesting, but not necessarily amazing unless you are a huge fan of history - even then, it seems somewhat "meh". Still, definitely worth the climb for the view, and during the summer there is usually a man with an eagle you can hold and get pictures with.
  • Excellent view. A piece of yesteryear left over for today. A real price of history after the big changes in Russia.
  • A must see ! This place gives you the best panorama of the city. And the monument is impressively heavy of recent history.
  • I think this location have very good view. If you come Mongolia, must go here first.
  • Love the Zaisan Memorial mainly for the view and it is a challenge to go up the stairs. There are few refreshment and little hand painted crafts on the way but most enjoyable thing is the view at the top. Be careful when to go though as weather conditions play a huge part in your experience and I recommend the warm spring summer and autumn days. Not great for winter, rain of other conditions you don't like.
