#5 of 12 in Museums in Mongolia
Take a close look at the 3 m (10 ft) tall skeleton of Tyrannosaurus Rex’s Mongolian cousin, Tarbosaurus bataar at Central Museum of Mongolian Dinosaurs. This small museum features 16 skeletal remains of dinosaurs excavated in the territory of modern-day Mongolia. Observe life-sized models of various dinosaurs and learn about their life at lectures. Other exhibits feature various raptors and a nest of oviraptor eggs. The prime exhibit was taken from the country's vast fossil and skeletal heritage and returned to the country after a legal battle in the U.S. Plan to visit Central Museum of Mongolian Dinosaurs during your Ulaanbaatar vacation using our convenient Ulaanbaatar driving holiday planner .

  • Get into this museum was a dream of childhood, but it's not the Museum that his childhood reading in the book. This water as temporary exhibits on 10 minutes, but I liked. The new Museum is kind of like plan, and even with all the interactive fignjoj, however, doubt that it ever becomes a reality. Almost all of the exposition of the Museum there are pics on this site.

  • Small but interesting museum visiting. Entrance 3000 tugrik, just over a euro. You can admire the "skeleton" of the dinosaur that was over in America but thankfully returned it to Mongolia. The visit takes little time.

  • If you want see the remains of dinosaurs. Then visit this place. You can enjoy.
  • Very small, only two rooms. A few good pieces, but mostly disappointing. Don't expect spending more than 20 minutes (and I'm usually very long in museums).
  • Hidden gem. A small but interesting collection of dinosours skeletons. Interesting history behind Mongolia getting that fossils back from American expeditions. There are plans to make the museum even bigger.
  • This place couldn't be a bigger pile of dino dung. I was so excited to see this place and was so let down, there are a total of 5 piles of bone. Mostly either fake looking, or un covered from the hunk of soil they were buried in. Save your money and go to the national museum where they have hours of information on Mongolia with thousands of artifacts.
  • Entry fee required, adult 3000, student 1000. You are not allowed to take photos -sigh- unless you pay 30000...

Where to stay in Ulaanbaatar

The capital city of Ulaanbaatar doesn't disappoint when it comes to its choice of accommodations, with a range of styles and types to choose from. The usual place to look lies to the northeast of the main train station, in the central district that surrounds Chinggis Khaan Square. Luxury and non-luxury chain hotels, some storied older hotels, and a variety of fairly standard options abound across this central district, close to the main urban attractions. Dotted throughout are a number of guesthouses, providing value for money mid-range and budget options, including some offering shared "gers" (traditional Mongolian sleeping tents).
