Jardin des animalier, Monte-Carlo
(2/5 based on 130 reviews on the web)
Although small, Jardin des animalier carries a wide array of exotic animals from around the globe. Founded by Prince Rainier III in 1954, the zoo houses more than 50 species and over 250 individual animals. An good place to bring the kids, the zoo features reptiles, apes, monkeys, and exotic birds. Of particular interest are the hippopotamus, the black panther (one of Africa's deadliest animals), and the white tiger, a rare variation of the classic orange Bengal tiger. When you visit the zoo, take the time to feed the kangaroos for a small additional charge. • A Zoo is a Zoo, but in Monaco is that like anything else. Playful, up-acting animals and special use of the vertical space. Ideal to relax, even without children.

  • Snakes, turtles, birds, etc. No large animals. No English signage. Animals were moving quite a bit around 11a.m. turtles especially were fun to watch. They seem to have strange hours, 10-12 and 2-5 or...  more »
  • €5 / adult and €2.5 / child certainly not worth more expensive but it's a walk of an hour entertaining and unusual by its location, at the base of the princely rock and the port of Fontvieille, unusual and not uninteresting.
