Japanese Gardens, Monte-Carlo

4.5
#1 of 6 in Parks in Monaco
A calm oasis for the weary traveler, Japanese Gardens offers a space for quiet contemplation surrounded by carefully crafted beauty. Meticulous arrangements of vegetation, stone, and water create a sense of peace in this garden, which was created for Princess Grace. Highlights of the garden include the waterfall, which flows into the carp-filled lake, and the teahouse, an ornamental structure where you can sit quietly. Walk the paths through trees and rocks, wander over the arched, red bridge to a small island, and watch the fish and ducks that swim below you. Visiting Monaco on the Mediterranean coast, we don't not expect a Japanese traditional garden. The place is very well done, with all the typical elements of this type of place. The lay of the land is also a quiet place (while we're in town)

Lovely tranquil garden in the heart of Monaco. I've been to Japan and it's a tiny faithful slice of the real thing. Well worth a stroll through.

A little smaler than I expected, but it is a very nice place :)

Really enjoyed taking a break from the buildings to walk in this free, serene setting. Good place to relax after loosing all your money in the casino!

Really pretty gardens. Free entry, so there's really no reason not to stop by for a few minutes and check it out. The place is very well landscaped, and you can tell the gardeners take great pride in the place. I was in Monaco during an anime convention so there were a lot of cosplayers there too. Great time!

Beautiful garden, perfectly maintained. Very small though, don't expect to walk around for hours

Where to stay in Monte-Carlo

Monte Carlo is known as one of Europe's most luxurious destinations, and the choice of places to stay largely reflects this reputation, with historical hotels acting as the city's most notable landmarks. Monte Carlo's modest size limits the amount of available lodgings, but it guarantees that wherever you decide to stay, you'll be close to the city's main attractions. For a full VIP experience, book a stay at one of the exclusive hotels. If you're looking for a more cost-effective option, check out accommodations just on the other side of the French border, in what are effectively Monte Carlo's suburbs.
