  • The fortress of Bender is perhaps the only historical monument in Transnistria. Our guide, an Italian who has lived for years in Moldova, tells us that it is visited only with a permit from authorities that it should be requested in advance, it seems to have been used for storing weapons from the Soviet Union and therefore still considered a military zone. So we settle for taking pictures from the road.

  • Outpost of the Russian Empire, all carefully preserved and restored. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Russo-Turkish wars. Highly recommend.

  • The fortress was built by the Turks during the Ottoman Empire. On the territory of otvojovannoj, Russian Empire, Ottoman have such fortresses was five-Ishmael Akkerman (Belgorod dnestrovsky), Hotin, Soroca, Tighina. Bender fortress the most unexplored, because until 1992 year it were existing Soviet troops. After the year 2000 began to lead the fortress, accommodating to tourists. In addition to exploring the structure of the fortress itself, it is worth visiting the Museum (preferably with a guide) fortress, the Museum of torture. Before entering the fortress can be photographing near the monument of Baron Mjunhgauzenu in the form of the kernel from the saddle. Bender are related to Baron-he fought here for the Russian army against the Ottomans and some of his stories reflect this war.
