Middle East trip planner

Created by British strategists of the 19th century, Middle East now represents a geographical and political term for a large area separating European "West" from the Far East. Historians and politicians may argue about the definition and borders of the region, but those lucky enough to tour the Middle East agree the area is home to some of the world's most hospitable people and some its most charming cities. Parts of the region remain under dispute and under conflict, preventing Middle East tourism from developing to its full potential. Other parts appeal to millions of visitors--think Jerusalem, Dubai, and Istanbul. Ancient history remains a living part of everyday life here, so most vacations in Middle East include visits to a range of archaeological and religious sites, notably in places like Turkey, Israel, and Jordan.
