Playa Las Gatas, Zihuatanejo
(3.4/5 based on 550+ reviews on the web)
Swim and sunbathe at Playa Las Gatas, a Zihuatanejo Bay beach named “cat beach” after the whiskered nurse sharks that once inhabited the area. According to a local legend, the beach was built by a Tarascan king for his daughter, which is why the chiseled cliffs that surround the beach create a natural barrier against the current, keeping the water calm. Lounge on the soft sand, or rent snorkeling gear to explore the nooks and crannies under the water. Once you're done, enjoy a meal at one of the beachside restaurants, which serve freshly caught seafood. By using our Zihuatanejo travel itinerary planner, you can arrange your visit to Playa Las Gatas and other attractions in Zihuatanejo.

  • We went to the beach in the off-season and during the week so it was empty, yet all the restaurants in the area were giving service, to get to the cats you have to go to the dock and rent a boat, in how much you get, there are several lockers who say that they are official and are but you must first and foremost check the boat where you going to go that it is safe and the captain that you trust , paid 40 pesos per person, the captain you dara your cell number so that you know when pick them because it is the journey of 40 pesos of back and forth, another important indication is this forbidden take styrofoam containers and glass before you get you review and coming to the cats also, I play as they emptied a cooler with beer and is the ate in sachet so I better not take anything from that. The cats are water crystal clear and with much coral so the best is carry complete sandals that you can enter into the water not to hurt you, along the beach you can even see the fish on the Beach the snorkel equipment consisting of fins and snorkel 50 pesos can rent you all day, you can also pay for a tour to us gained us 80 pesos as several people , we ate at La Cabana have great food and attention, and is almost at the end of the beach, the beach is safe for children and swimming especially to observe fish without having to swim up to adentro.
