Cerro de la Bufa, Zacatecas

4.6
#2 of 29 in Things to do in Zacatecas
Lookout Mountain
See the city from 2,673 m (8,770 ft) above sea level on a trip up Cerro de la Bufa, a hill just east of the main urban area. The impressive, rugged spot offers uninterrupted views of the colonial city, along with a number of other attractions. Head to the museum at the top to learn about the Mexican Revolutionary War, and the battle that took place on this site in 1914. A chapel, begun in 1548 and completed two centuries later, represents another landmark atop the crest of the bluff, along with a mausoleum of the city's most esteemed citizens, an observatory, and a popular cable railway, connecting the hill to the city. Cerro de la Bufa is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our world travel planner, Zacatecas Edition.

  • it does not matter if you see it from far away, from downtown or you are on the hill, this is just gorgeous. Lovely. Try to go up to the Creston by your own risk, it is dangerous, but it worth it.  more »
  • This battle site where Pancho Villa fought is beautiful and clean. We were grateful for our group member who brushed up on history before coming. The views are amazing.  more »
