Trip Planner:   Mexico  /  Yucatan Peninsula  /  Cenote Azul

Cenote Azul, Yucatan Peninsula

4.5
Swim and relax at Cenote Azul, a natural, below-ground lagoon with two smaller, shallower pools close by. Cool off in the refreshing, clear water, snorkeling and observing the tropical fish that call this remote oasis home. A small cliff provides a popular place to jump off from and dive into the evocatively colored pool. The two other pools provide shallower waters for less confident swimmers. Primarily frequented by locals, the cenote has not been overdeveloped, but you'll find certain basic amenities onsite, such as bathrooms and snack stands. • Cenote frequented by locals. It is not overrun by tourists, unscrupulous, and the price is acceptable. Recommend the use of mask and snorkel very cute the fact to do the pedicure with fish. Very clean water and diving possibilities.

  • Great fun just be prepared to rough it out. Recommend wearing water shoes. There are also clifs to jump off and dive.
  • Very beautiful, but one of the smaller cenote. Carefully with the rocks! Rough on the feet and there are holes that could break an ankle if not cautious.
  • Amazing place with many different pools of water. A small cliff to jump off of that's your thing, about 25 ft. Many colorful fish to look at. If you go here quality goggles are a must a snorkel is also a great idea! Fun for the whole family. This on is a very short walk from the road. Cenotes Eden is right next door and slightly better in my opinion but a much for there walk. About 10-15 minutes from rd.
  • Extremely beautiful cenote. Clean water with a lots of fishes. Big enough not to feel the crowd.
  • Water was cold, but not expensive like the other ones. Great place to swim or snorkel with the family. They even have a place to jump from.

Where to stay in Puerto Aventuras

With a reputation built almost entirely around high-end resort tourism, Puerto Aventuras offers little in the way of budget accommodations, with only a handful of small guesthouses found in the town's backstreets. Large, luxurious resorts rule, and you'll find plenty of them hugging the town's coastline and marina. You can expect swimming pools, bars, and large restaurants at most of the accommodations in town, although it's also possible to find some smaller boutique hotels and villas to the west of town.
