Cenote Azul, Yucatan Peninsula
Categories: Geologic Formations, Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Swim and relax at Cenote Azul, a natural, below-ground lagoon with two smaller, shallower pools close by. Cool off in the refreshing, clear water, snorkeling and observing the tropical fish that call this remote oasis home. A small cliff provides a popular place to jump off from and dive into the evocatively colored pool. The two other pools provide shallower waters for less confident swimmers. Primarily frequented by locals, the cenote has not been overdeveloped, but you'll find certain basic amenities onsite, such as bathrooms and snack stands.
