  • The Yucatan a very thin layer of soil. The land barren and almost nothing grows. Yes that there is almost nothing grows! Agriculture is missing completely. Even fruit brought from neighboring States. Although there was a period in history when one of the local plants enjoyed the wildly popular. This is èneken. Honestly, before the trip I even did not know of its existence. Some big Agave, similar in appearance to the Aloe, but with rigid prežestkimi dlinnûŝimi leaves and roots. So of these leaves and roots even hundred years did remarkable rope. Came to what hemp bedspreads of almost a third of world demand. Our Russian ancestors with his-quick-witted Armenian drivers find just rested. I'm talking about the rope, and you say what have thought? And then to help mankind came chemistry. Natural fibers lie in the past and all modern ropes exclusively of kapron. The farm, which èneken grew, zagnulis′, and заводики verëvočnogo production affectionately closed did not survive the competition. Here is one such gasiendu we've come out of the blue. So The Hacienda Yaxcopoil. Devastation! Only this word can describe what they saw. The once prosperous factory can safely play cops and robbers and jump from the empty Windows. Steam engines, rotors and other energy generators successfully rusting in abandoned shops. And the area in front of the building, where the dried products recalls deserted provincial Platz after the may day demonstration. Sad and dull! Plenty of life only in the Lord of the Manor, which managed to make a small museum about the rich life. Yes and the shabbiness is astounding. But that is not podohnut′ to starve, Hunt Museum staff selling honey. Who try to vtûhat′ each visiting tourist. Honey is very liquid and easily spreads on plastic bottles. And the smell is not Ahti. Smacks of nesvežimi socks. Although, as they say, is a distinctive feature of local medka. And it's not worth it. .. In General, from what he saw immediately thought bad headshots climb. For example: "not to become, be here's Museum, at the right time better to go to the bottom!" ...

  • This Hacienda was establish in the 19th century and was used to grow and process henequen, know also as Sisal. I was used to make ropes before nylon came along and was a large and important industry in Mexico at the time. The place is a strange combination of wealthy living and an industrial complex. It is a photographer's dream with so many colours and shapes. Give yourself lots of time. The staff there were great. We drove, but you probably easily get a bus from Merida.
  • Bella hacienda de la época
  • Impressive farmhouse which teaches through his Museum the history of sisal in Yucatán, is currently remodeling.

  • Diving in the Mexico of the past at the time of the hacienda. Old building under renovation. I enjoyed. But the visit is quite succinct. If you are in a hurry go your way.
