Housing one of the leading Mesoamerican collections, Anthropology Museum represents the second-largest museum of its kind in Mexico. The museum showcases exhibits on three main cultures; the Olmecs, Totonacs, and Huastecs. You'll find about 27,000 artifacts within the museum--some date back to between 1,300 BCE and 900 BCE.   • It is a must, you are lover of archaeology or not. The only complaints: lighting poor (foci cast or areas completely dark). The library has more content similar to a Sanborns. Little archaeological material, the best was the roots magazines stand.

  • Well, as I say. It is the best Museum of anthropology of all Mexico. For its history, for the myriad of historical pieces containing (has over 25mil parts while only exhibits a 10%), for its architecture. The Museum is enormous, with corridors, with nature, interspersed with sculptures of different civilizations. The walk with guide, which I absolutely recommend because many details are escaping, lasts approximately 2 hours. The cost is 50MX (Mexican pesos). If you come to Xalapa you can not miss visit this Museum and its majestic Olmec sculptures
