(4.5/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Admire an impressive military structure that stood for centuries at San Juan de Ulua. Construction began on the fort in 1565, although it was expanded numerous occasions thereafter. In 1568, the Spanish in the area succeeded in trapping and humiliating an English fleet, commanded by Sir John Hawkins, and including his cousin, a young Francis Drake. The fort even held strong during the Mexican War of Independence, with the Spanish finally handing it over four years after Mexico achieved independence. Take a tour of the structure to learn its history, and the features that made it so durable for so long. • For me it was the best site turisrico that I was. Not have an access fast because rodearas a large part if going in auto. You can rent a boat for the Aquarium that you carry. It is a site with lots of history and a very strong energy. The puedras are made of coral and it was a fortress that also functioned as a prison where many died. Some prisoners prefer being eaten by sharks that remain there, because they fall ill or crazy they became. You will take incredible pictures of the bridges Gates stairs or ladders or dark passageways. Definitive that you have to go!

  • Through the moving train as part of the Malecon, or taxi, you access this fortress, a place where took place the battle between English and Spanish in 1568. Space that was also a famous prison.

  • Muy buen lugar turístico para visitar en Veracruz
  • Nice view and contrasting sights between the misterious and creepy jails and the majestous and modern cranes.
