Convent de San Bernardino de Siena, Valladolid

4.4
Convent de San Bernardino de Siena stands as Xochimilco's cultural and historic center. An old parish church built in the 16th century over a pre-Hispanic temple, the convent features a simple beige stone wall façade, long corridors of thick arches, and a grass courtyard. Inside stands a towering altar lavished in gold decoration and religious icons. Observe numerous old paintings and frescos hanging throughout. Head up to the organ loft or bell tower for encompassing views of the plaza. A nighttime light show tells town's history accompanied by a light projection on the church's façade. • The convent of San Bernardino de Siena, located in the District of Sisal and one of the most emblematic sites of this colonial city, founded in 1552 by the Franciscan order, is located in the heart of the old quarter of Sisal, Southeast of the main square of Valladolid 450 years ago. This convent has a magnificent architectural structure, its facade with arches and sides goal excels two chapels; the main entrance to the temple is arched, and above this, there is a choral window and a Franciscan coat of arms; They topped the sober façade two Belfries. Inside, the most interesting is its main altarpiece in gold-painted wood, and some niches with sculptures; all decorated with vegetable motifs, of Baroque style.

  • I would recommend going there after spending a day in Chichen Itza, which is super touristy. This place is so tranquil and has sad but interesting history
  • Beautiful grounds to explore. It's worth the stop.
  • Very nice place of Valladolid and the really cool church. I had to visit the site in the afternoon night and very well

  • They are certainly a magical place, visit the Museum in the morning is an experience full of mystery, as from the moment that you walk into the place you can feel the history of the same. The visits Sunday do not have cost more than cooperation for consideration to the visitor, therefore there is also no guides, a guided tour would have been more filling. Enter the halls with 500 years old is a unique experience. In the evening I happened to witness the mapping, a projection that broadly discusses the history of creation, rise and devastation of the heroic city, Valladolid.
