Chiapa de Corzo, Tuxtla Gutierrez

(3.9/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
Occupied since 1400 BCE, Chiapa de Corzo serves as a major archaeological site containing the earliest inscribed date and earliest Mesoamerican tomb burial. It also represents the oldest colonial town in the state of Chiapas and serves as a gateway for trips into the Sumidero Canyon. Visit the town's main plaza to see the large colonial mudejar-style brick fountain with its octagonal design, arches, buttresses, and domed roof. Nearby you can dine on cuisine found only within the region or visit the local museum. • Unfortunately I have not had opportunity to meet it very detail always step to the sumidero Canyon. But it is actually a very nice place. clean and with a beautiful gazebo. Well worth the photographs that you can do in the kiosk and a beautiful and huge ceida which lies on one of the sides of the central square.

  • My cisita was unfortunately brief, tour departing San Cristobal de las Casas to include this place in travel to the Sumidero Canyon, leave very little time for Chiapa de Corzo, with everything and that, maun be only an hour in this place worthwhile. It is a quiet place and that's part of its magic, my recommendation is to take the place of food either only for walking, yp did the latter although they say the cochita there is very good, myo would recommend a good cold pozol on hot days, in addition to kill two birds with one stone, known place and prove something different. As for the souvenirs I I would advise purchasing them in San Cristobal de las Casas, there are more things and the prices are lower.
