  • This is our experience, and I'm pretty sure everyone will have their own unique one. I say, Go to Yax-Muul if you want to experience swimming thru to cenote, in a cave, under the bats. The front office is on Hwy 307, between Akumal and Tulum, with a large sign (on google maps!). We drove past office and followed the signs to the cenote. Seems like a long way thru the jungle, just keep driving. We arrived early and a few other guests began to arrive, all of them with tour companies. We then realized that we should have stopped at entrance to pay first. A worker called the front and got permission for us to pay on the way out. There was really no one to give up on tour in English, but one young worker lead us into the cave. We were behind a tour group, and just tagged along. The guide didn't have a problem with us there, and we tipped her well at the end. The cave isn't huge, but I would recommend having a tour guide for the first time. It was our first experience in a cave cenote. Super cool! They provide life vest and helmet (hard hat) equipped with a light. Great first cave experience. We paid 150 dollars each as we left, great deal. We were quoted 250 pesos for the tour. Either way, a good rate to experience the cave and bats. Not shaman. No other pools to hang out. The entry/exit was easy, nice wide steps into the water, no handrail, but easy to navigate, and someone could easily assist those down that needed some extra help. Water in late May felt amazing! No need for wetsuits. Take a chance on this lesser know cenote / cave. We did and had a fabulous time!

  • This was entirely too cool. It was like meramec caverns with bats, fish and exploration. The Shaman was a nice touch too. I have been to 5 other cenotes and this was the most interesting and a tiny bit scary (BATS).

  • A small private company gave a great time in the park. Price for 2 persons about 30 USD. The price includes the guide made photography. Park is located directly behind the Jungle Maya Park. Very recom...  more »
