It is a cenote that runs under the ground. This little exploited. It has three changing rooms with curtains and bathrooms. Offer life jackets but it isn't mandatory. The cenote is very nice with stalactites (didn't see stalagmites) but try to improve with colored lights, which in my opinion are unnecessary. The power line is in sight (cables and their joints) and generates a bit of insecurity mix electricity with water. You can see a lot of bats sleeping on the roof of one of the rooms. Very nice is for the wild, but would improve security.

This is our experience, and I'm pretty sure everyone will have their own unique one. I say, Go to Yax-Muul if you want to experience swimming thru to cenote, in a cave, under the bats. The front office is on Hwy 307, between Akumal and Tulum, with a large sign (on google maps!). We drove past office and followed the signs to the cenote. Seems like a long way thru the jungle, just keep driving. We arrived early and a few other guests began to arrive, all of them with tour companies. We then realized that we should have stopped at entrance to pay first. A worker called the front and got permission for us to pay on the way out. There was really no one to give up on tour in English, but one young worker lead us into the cave. We were behind a tour group, and just tagged along. The guide didn't have a problem with us there, and we tipped her well at the end. The cave isn't huge, but I would recommend having a tour guide for the first time. It was our first experience in a cave cenote. Super cool! They provide life vest and helmet (hard hat) equipped with a light. Great first cave experience. We paid 150 dollars each as we left, great deal. We were quoted 250 pesos for the tour. Either way, a good rate to experience the cave and bats. Not shaman. No other pools to hang out. The entry/exit was easy, nice wide steps into the water, no handrail, but easy to navigate, and someone could easily assist those down that needed some extra help. Water in late May felt amazing! No need for wetsuits. Take a chance on this lesser know cenote / cave. We did and had a fabulous time!

Where to stay in Tulum

Most accommodations in Tulum make the most of the region's scenic coastline, offering sea views and easy beach access along the coastal Route 15. This area, known as the Hotel Zone, includes everything from basic, budget-friendly "cabanas" (beach shacks) to large-scale beach resorts. For proximity to the town's famous Mayan ruins, stay at the northern end of this coastal stretch. If you want easier access to amenities and ongoing connections, look to the township itself, located a short drive from the beach.
