  • On the Yucatanrundreise, we made a detour in the cocoa or Schokomuseum before the ride to the hotel. In addition to many plants which here garden botanical as in a planted are, you can see the history of the "brown bean" and discover. In addition to a this Mayan cocoa ceremony can the classical production of the raw beans up to the finished drink to the taste experience. Important - don't forget insect repellent!

  • My husband and I visited this museum after being at Uxmal (the Museum is located across the street from the entrance to the aforementioned archaeological site). It is a path inside an old cocoa plantation with several "pit stops". Following the path, in fact, you will encounter different palapa posing different themes: the seed of the cocoa and its use, processing, plantation, exporting to Europe ... etc. In particular, during the journey you can attend a ceremony dedicated to cocoa. In one of Palapas you can taste the "drink of the gods", with sugar or, as tradition dictates, with chili. It is a nice experience! Along the way you can also see some animals (monkeys, Jaguars, deer) subtracted in circuses or in situation of violence and malnutrition: these animals, accustomed to captivity, would not be able to survive in the wild.
