Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.8/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web
Transport yourself back in time as you admire the ancient and sophisticated Ek Balam Mayan Ruins, built well over 2000 years ago. A lesser-known and smaller ruin than others in the area, but no less impressive, the complex rarely gets busy, leaving you to explore on your own terms, and even climb the ruins themselves. Consider taking a guide with you to get the most out of the complex, and get a better impression of what life here was like all those years ago. Don’t forget your camera, bug spray, sunscreen, and plenty of water to keep you hydrated while you wander around the ruins. • After already Chichen Itza, Coba and Tulum, we are to have visited this year to Ek Balam. In comparison with all the previous this is rather a quiet and not such a great site to visit. Annex to helemaaal not so commercial operated opposite such as Chichen Itza. The pleasant to this Maya ruins is that you are still everywhere and in Mag. with a small two hours you have enough time to visit all quiet and to climb. definitely worth it, but Cameron still has my personal preference.

  • A must see. Almost better than Chichen Itza. Remarkable, well maintained site with a great pyramid. It has been restored and sculptures are beautiful. For the brave who want to climb to the top (there no barriers, no strings, no safeguards), you will be rewarded. the view is 360 degrees is superb. The loss of view jungle and ruins that go beyond... awesome!
