Zocalo, Taxco

4.6
#2 of 17 in Things to do in Taxco
Watch the world pass by as you sip coffee in the city’s main plaza, known as Zocalo. On the north side sits Casa Borda, the most important non-religious building in the city. The house is now used for teaching and other activities. The rest of the plaza is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and silver shops. Cobbled streets lead off from the plaza, with the street of Cuauhtemoc containing many of the area’s best restaurants and bars. Del Arco street heads towards the popular shopping and market area. This spot provides a good place to embrace the relaxed culture of the local Mexican culture. Add Zocalo and other attractions to your Taxco trip itinerary using our Taxco travel planning tool .

  • From here all the movements you can do are carried out in the city, visits outlets, shopping markets, silversmiths etc

  • To reach the socket the ideal is to leave your vehicle in a parking lot outside the downtown area, will cost you cheaper and is best to walk, since the streets are very narrow and chaotic. It is very picturesque village and pozole that sold on the market of food just a short walk from the main square (since the Chata, has a tarp) where the locals eat, it has no competition, you will be eager to return.

  • It is a very small but full of life socket, you have many options to view, from silverware rentals, restaurants to people who congregate there

  • Taxco is a Silver town with Beautiful pieces of work and many other tourist shopping stores and stand at way below what you might expect to pay. Great place to visit.
  • Worth visiting its safe to move around in the night sometimes crowded lots of silver things you can buy but you need to look around for a good bargain there are no fixed prices. If you let them theg will take advantage of you
  • Wonderful place to visit!! A must go town!! Many restaurants bars and cafes to choose from, during the day you can visit the silver and jewelry shops and be amazed with the designs and the prices!! The trip is just two and a half hours from Mexico City.
  • A small moutain town. Extremely difficult to find a parking place at the weekend.
  • A most to visit place in Mexico!! near to the city with the best of silver jewelry!!
