  • One of the most beautiful and emblematic of San Miguel de Allende buildings is the Oratory of San Felipe Neri, which belonged in the 17TH century the mulatto population and was later transformed by the inhabitants of the city, which traced a Baroque facade of pink stone in which there are numerous indigenous motifs and images of our Lady of solitude which devoted the cover, and of five Apostles that accompany it. It has a Latin cross plan and its interior is decorated with paintings by Miguel Cabrera, neoclassical altars and a set of 33 paintings dedicated to the life of San Felipe Neri, which are distributed throughout the ship. On the left side the transept opens a chapel with Baroque doorway flanked by spiral columns reminiscent of the Holy House of the Virgin of Loreto; its interior is decorated with tiles from Valencia, local and Chinese tradition. Behind this Chapel is the Camarín de la Virgen, a superb Baroque octagonal building, where performing mastery and wealth come together resulting in a beautiful space, with gilded altarpieces and polychrome plasterwork that cover the walls.
