Fabrica La Aurora, San Miguel de Allende

(4.5/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Visit Fabrica La Aurora, a historical textile factory housing an array of galleries, exhibitions, and shops. Peruse high-end homewares, prints of famous artworks, and exhibitions by local artists, all set among the remnants of heavy mill machinery. After walking around and taking in the vast quantity of wares, pop into one of the gourmet restaurants and cafes for a bite to eat and a rejuvenating cup of coffee. Due to the scale of this place, it's recommended that you leave a couple of hours to absorb everything, which may test the patience of some children. • Fun touring when they have their "open house" once a month, vendors offer snacks, wine and tequila as well as showing off their unusual furniture, home decor and art.  more »
  • A centre of avant-garde design which retains the architectural roots and which houses galleries of design in jewelry, furniture, handicraft and textiles among others. A place that I consider to be a must-see for a glimpse into the art - object in different accessories.

  • This place is beyond fantastic. There is a broad spectrum of art to be seen here. The time I attended there was a Dali room and they even had a single Picasso.
  • Fábricas is always a great place to visit. From the historic building itself to all the galleries, the location offers a ton to explore and enjoy. Be sure to check out Lourdes Rivera's gallery Galeria Manuk and Merry Calderoni's gallery.
  • Although it´s more like a store than an art gallery, it´s a beautiful structure, it has many beautiful things to see like and it´s free to get in, so it´s worth a "stopping by".
  • I went to this thinking this is not really my thing and yeah it's not really my thing. It had an interesting history going back 100 years. I am a backpacker who is never going to buy anything here but if at its your thing than worth checking out.
  • Attended a Day of the Dead art opening at Fabrica la Aurora. The Fabrica was beautifully decorated throughout and the massive ofrenda set a festive mood. Art, accessory, and furniture galleries offered works by Mexican, US, and local artist. The staffs of the galleries were gracious. Locals helped create a warm and friendly atmosphere. Locals stated there is a monthly opening at the Fabrica. It is a great place to go shopping.
