Admire Pyramid of the Sun, the largest structure within the World Heritage-listed Teotihuacan. Standing at 65 m (216 ft) tall and 230 m (760 ft) wide, the imposing pyramid dominates the ruins of the ancient Aztec city. Built in the 2nd century CE, this is one of the biggest pyramids in the world. Bring suitable footwear and plenty of water to brave the multitude of steps leading to the top of the structure, where you'll be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view of the ancient city. The pyramids are breathtaking. Just seeing them gives you an inexplicable feeling. All you can think about while being in awe is - how did they build this at the time? Truly incredible. If you are vis...  more »

Great Pyramid, which constitutes the highest point of the archaeological site. The charm can be limited by the crowd that ascends and descends continuously, such tails are important. It is advisable to choose a good time, preferably early, to be able to perceive the magical charm of the place with more privacy.

The pyramid of the Sun is truly majestic and imposing. If climb may look easy (and it ain't much), get off is a completely different story: you need good shoes and good knees But the view from the top is really amazing. I absolutely recommend to visit the pyramid of the Moon, even more impressive than that of the Sun

Amazing place. Climb to the top is easy compared to climbing down...very steep and stairs required full body climbing. Worth a visit for sure :)

A place full of energy. The whole structure is pretty impressive for the time it was built. You must go up on the pyramid and feel the energy of the earth there.. and of course a great view of the whole campus.

Where to stay in San Juan Teotihuacan

With many visitors opting to visit the nearby historical site of Teotihuacan on a day-trip from Mexico City, San Juan Teotihuacan itself doesn't offer too much in the way of accommodations. Your best bet is to look for a mid-range hotel, homestay, or "posada" around the city center, with Calle Canteroco offering a few options. You can also find some alternatives just south of the historic site itself, in San Sebastian Xolalpa.
