Visit San Jose del Cabo Church, an attractive and storied place of worship in the historical center of town. The first incarnation of the church was founded in 1734 by Jesuitical Friar Nicolas Tamaral. Destroyed and damaged during various altercations and natural disasters over the centuries, the church first stood as it appears today in 1840--though again, in 1918, a hurricane caused significant damage to the site. Rebuilt midway into the 20th century, the church today stands as a symbol of the town and witness to local history, with events of great significance linked with the life of the building. Snap pictures of its simple, graceful facade, and note the mosaic depicting the killing of Friar Tamaral during an uprising by the local indigenous population.
