Catedral de San Cristobal de Las Casas, San Cristobal de las Casas

4.3
Walk up the hill to admire the artistry and atmosphere of Catedral de San Cristobal de Las Casas, a brightly colored Catholic church and local landmark. First built in 1528, the cathedral features an 18th-century yellow Baroque facade decoratively striped by red features. While plant motifs in the mortar and sculptures in the niches demand close inspection, the coloration of the church looks pleasing from afar, perfectly complementing the hues of the plaza that lies in front of it. Inside, find a number of Baroque artworks, including two altarpieces. Plan my San Cristobal de las Casas trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • San Cristóbal de las Casas is called by many tourists as "The best magical town of Mexico", but from my point of view there best magical towns to visit. With the last earthquake of September 19, their temples and some architectural buildings; were very affected Despite this San Cristobal is standing rescantando these historic buildings and safeguarding our cultural heritage. I recommend that during your visit enjoy the cobbled streets, the Chiapas coffee and the tram tour through the historic centre; If you want to venture further to fund there are many tour-operators that offer tours did Palenque, the Cascada de Misol-Ha, the Laguna de Montebello, el Chiflón waterfall, etc. Do not forget to buy crafts, are too beautiful.
