Plaza de Armas, Queretaro City

4.7
#1 of 9 in Historic Sites in Queretaro City
Head to the heart of Queretaro's historic center at Plaza de Armas, a bustling town square. Surrounded by 18th century architecture, the square represents a good point from which to view the city's colonial manors and mansions. A photographer's eye will be drawn to the open aspect of the square, in contrast to the often cramped streets around the historic center. Choose from a number of atmospheric restaurants, bars, and cafes, which line the square and offer alfresco wining and dining. The square's central fountain is topped by a statue of Juan Antonio de Urrutia y Arana, the nobleman and benefactor who funded so much of the city's development. • Very nice Christmas lighting and 2018 for the typical photo new year. Too bad that arches across the street at night am bedroom and that gives a bad appearance.

  • Random our steps, we reached the Plaza de Armas with its large central fountain and beautiful trees. There are nice terraces that make restaurant and it is near 3 pm and breakfast is very far away, it is appropriate to get their fill.

  • A cute Plaza with a lot of cafés and restaurants around. In the middle there is a cute fountain, a perfect place to take a break while exploring the city. When it's getting dark, a lot of people gathering there.
  • Its kindness, its local rythm the mixture of styles and the afluence of different times of Mexico's history in just single square makes this historical and emblematic place one of the most important and beautiful scenes of Mexican Province and is a tough statement when around this facility there are plenty of gardens and plazas with a marvelous and almost romantic accent. The Villar del Àguila's Village Marquis monument is a solemn reference of the south entrance of Bajio. I can recommend to walk from the top of hill, the Acueduct archery and the Corregidora's grave down to this Plaza it is simply amazing. The whole history of Mexico is in that space of territory. From the II Empire to the Revolution, from the Conquest days to the Independence war. The Maximilian trial the Independence Conspiracy and the root of Queretaro's life all come together in that Plaza. Unforgettable.
  • Nice area, eminently walkable, clean and well preserved. Hope you don't get a political demonstration with the yelling to spoil your day
  • Special place to eat, buy from the indigenous that come from amealco town. And there are small but talented jazz bands that play at night. There is also techno music with delicious food nearby.
  • Beautiful traditional plaza at the center of one of North America's oldest cities!

Where to stay in Queretaro City

Vacations in Queretaro tend to focus almost exclusively on the historic center, with the city's industrialized fringes offering little of interest to tourists. The vast majority of accommodations remain in the city's heart, with the dual-direction Carre Benito Juarez and surrounding streets offering a selection of budget-friendly and boutique hotels. If you're just looking for a place to rest your head before moving on to your next destination, look south to the neighborhood of Las Misiones, or west to La Capilla, where you can find some comfortable roadside hotels.
