El Acueducto De Queretaro, Queretaro City

Admire the effort and energy that went into the design and construction of El Acueducto De Queretaro, one of the largest such structures in the country. With 74 tall arches, the aqueduct extends 1,298 m (4,259 ft) through the downtown area. Constructed between 1726 and 1738 at a cost of $125,000, the structure supplied much-needed fresh drinking water to the town, which celebrated its completion with a 15-day festival. Today, the aqueduct represents one of the town's most famous structures, and has a symbolic value as well as an aesthetic and architectural one. • A representative stonework that outstands in front of any other building around. It used to bring water to the old city and it's also a good reference to reach the center of the city. Just don't be careless, there is also aqueduct some kilometers away. It is said a deeply in love earl took the acueduct to the cloister of the Temple of the Cross, where it ends... Cheesy!

Where to stay in Queretaro City

Vacations in Queretaro tend to focus almost exclusively on the historic center, with the city's industrialized fringes offering little of interest to tourists. The vast majority of accommodations remain in the city's heart, with the dual-direction Carre Benito Juarez and surrounding streets offering a selection of budget-friendly and boutique hotels. If you're just looking for a place to rest your head before moving on to your next destination, look south to the neighborhood of Las Misiones, or west to La Capilla, where you can find some comfortable roadside hotels.
