Isla Marietas National Park, Punta de Mita

(4/5 based on 600+ reviews on the web)
Encounter a wealth of sea creatures at Isla Marietas National Park, a marine park centered around a group of small uninhabited islands. An hour-long boat ride from the coast of Puerto Vallarta gets you to the park, where government protection from fishing and hunting has created a rich and diverse ecosystem. Although you cannot access the islands--save for one secluded beach--the focus here is really on the water. Take a whale-watching tour to spot breaching humpbacks and dolphins, along with blue-footed boobies on the islands' rugged rocks. Alternatively, head beneath the surface on a snorkeling or scuba diving trip to meet manta rays, octopuses, and sea turtles. • This is a must - I loved this trip even if we had to swim in order to get to the famous place, They only gave you 15 minutes to each place, to take pictures or to swim. Snorkeling was nice, but be car...  more »

  • We made the trip and found the trip very long because it must go a Nuevo Vallarta then by boat we go a the marina in Puerto Vallarta to then go to the Marietas island. It is not able to see the inside of the island as the waves and tide may that it must settle for the tour. (without refund) Don't forget that you need to swim 130 meters go to access the site and 130 meters back (if you have difficulty swimming better answers). We came back through Puerto Vallarta then Nuevo Vallarta and then return by taxi to the hotel Palladium Punta de Mita. The place was still worth the trip.
