Zona Romantica, Puerto Vallarta

(4.7/5 based on 2,600+ reviews on the web)
Stroll through the quaint streets of Zona Romantica, the traditional Mexican part of the old town, packed with shops, art galleries, bookstores, cafes, and restaurants. Smell the aroma of handmade tortillas wafting from streetside taco stands. The oldest farmers’ market in town offers a selection of freshly baked goods, handmade clothing, jewelry, and crafts. See the whole town gather on Friday nights at the recently widened Basilio Badillo Street. Meet local artists and get to know Mexican folklore through shows and games at the park. A colorfully lit wooden pier featuring pedestrian pathways, ample seating, and a waterfront promenade serves as a good place to sit and ruminate after a long stroll. • My favorite location in Puerto Vallarta is the Romantica Zona. Everyone is extremely friendly, the restaurants are wonderful, the theaters have incredible talent, and Banderas Bay is minutes away.  more »
  • Colonia Emiliano Zapata has become since the middle of the last century, one of the most attractive from what is known as the "old Vallarta", in particular the well-known romantic zone, which is the southernmost area of the city centre. In the romantic zone of Puerto Vallarta can be approached from several points of view, the traditional one which highlights the history of the town's oldest families and history of it; for offering dining and hospitality, as well as being a place of maritime output to various points of the Bay; and in more recent dates, for having become a known homosexual destination. The colonia Emiliano Zapata and ranges from Insurgentes Avenue to the beach of the dead and of the Aquiles Serdan Street to Avenue Costera bar Christmas, area in which commercial activity began in the early 1980s with various businesses, period during which some foreigners began to buy some properties, and then in the nineties began to become the hallmark of this place. Some of the characteristic places of the romantic zone are the avenida Olas Altas which has multiple bars, restaurants, shops, galleries, hair salons and a wide variety of hotels aimed at the gay community ranging from economy to Boutique Hotels class; and the famous beach of the dead, the most popular Puerto Vallarta, and which brings together thousands of tourists a year. The romantic zone of Puerto Vallarta combines still some characteristics that gave fame to this destination, its cobbled streets, houses with roofs of red tile and balconies decorated with bougainvillea pink or white, with a full range of crafts, art galleries, sidewalk cafes and other curiosities.

  • Today, Dec 6, 2016, I had a wonderful 4 handed massage from Jesus and Jesus. Afterwards they told me that it was the first time they had ever worked in tandem. This was surprising to me and something I never would have guessed because they were so in sync. If you happen to be on Ampas Street (near the corner of Rodolfo Gomez Street) and see two handsome young men beneath a rainbow flag on a porch with several doors around it, ask for the four-handed massage. You'll be glad you did.
  • This is a quaint little area of the downtown of VALLARTA. Filled with restaurants, little shops and activities.
