  • It is a place with much room and very pleasant for a stroll. Many offer restaurants, shops, excursions etc. We liked the sculptures that are along the promenade.

  • Worth a visit.. great food, friendly people, beautiful views. It was festival time so there was dancing? Markets, it was full of colour and fun. We loved it  more »
  • On the day it looks spectacular, quiet and illuminated (obviously) however by night is much excitement, music and demsaiado dark, lugubrious with very little lighting, several people have suffered accidents since it has uneven floor is not completely smooth, if it visit night have caution.

  • Fairly nice walking area. Good open spaces, reasonable seating for when one tires or gets too hot. Interesting seasonal art installments/exhibits. Too bad about the shops peddling to tourists in the worst possible way and the too-loud, too-rowdy bars and clubs. If you're going to PV to tie one on and get your freak on, then fine. Otherwise - nope.
  • Great way to spend a night. Go to La Palapa restaurant and then walk along the beach. Amazing atmosphere and cool way to see Puerto Vallarta and the beach. Cool night time outing with the family and easy shopping for tourists.
  • The Malecon is beautiful area between the beach and the first line of shops in Puerto Vallarta. There are numerous quirky sculptures and statues along the way that provide endless photo opportunities. There are bench seats along the way but little in the way of shade from the sun. So early evening is the best time to stroll with the locals before sunset. If you're lucky you may catch the Papantla Flyers performing their death-defying ritual hanging by their ankles from a 50ft pole. However, if you walk near the shops you will be pestered every step of the way by shopkeepers inviting you to view or sample their wares or timeshare sales people masquerading as tour operators/agents. Some of the restaurants are over-priced tourist traps. Look for those patronised by Mexicans or better still check out the side streets or the blocks back from the Malecon.
  • Most beautiful malecon! Go for a ling walk during sunset and you won't be upset, watch the local acts as you meander through the trees and locals
  • The boardwalk had nice photo ops, flea markets and food. We had fun walking around.

Where to stay in Puerto Vallarta

The appropriately named Hotel Zone, at the coastal fringe of the city center, serves as one of the most popular areas to stay, with equally good access to the beach and the amenities within the city. Private rentals are particularly popular, with the Hotel Zone and the equally vibrant hub of Emiliano Zapata to the south offering plenty of condominiums to complement the range of budget, mid-range, and luxury hotels. Many of the city's best gay-friendly accommodations are found at the southern fringe of the old town.
