  • We took a tour with Gregory from Pascon Tours at the Posada Real. After an informative, friendly trip to the National Park with little stops along the way to sightsee or buy local snacks, we historical out into this huge national park of seven vast interlinked lagoons. We traversed two and viewed thousands of birds, enjoyed cool breezes and the deep greens of the mangroves, whose very existence keeps our endangered planet breathing. We even passed a little fishing village deep in the lagoon, where a lonely hydro wire was one of the few links to "civilization. Enjoyed seeing fishers working in the lagoon and on the canals in their tiny little boats. It was like seeing a living world somewhat frozen in time. We stopped at a series of little palapa restaurants near the ocean to enjoy a walk, swim, some beers and fresh snapper grilled over wood-as fresh as can be imagined. Even saw a young man dig out shellfish from the little bay and deliver them to diners on the beach! This was a brilliant, educational, relaxing day in a world so very different from our daily lives. Gregory felt it was necessary simply to recharge and reconnect with our natural world. Could not agree more! Long may we preserve treasures like this!

  • Before you read my review I must point out that I'm definitely not one of those people who is hard to please (we've seen those reviews stand out a mile from the others), and neither am I someone who c...  more »
  • Where do I begin? To get there, you must ride a small boat that takes you to mangrove maze allong... Endless bay beach, with blue water... to my left... To my right, a wonderfull shallow lagoon. The most welcoming and lovely people, willing to help, show, brag or patiently listen to your endless chat. The place has basic services. Do not expect high end hotels, in fact, you must bring your soap, shampoo, toilet paper and towels to your "cabin" Cement floors, two beds, and the most simple bathroom / shower you can see. No internet... Except in a few meters in the island... You can only enjoy nature! Filled with all type of birds, surrounded by turtles, whales, fish and... In the different palm roof restaurants with hammocks, you eat fresh fish (huge fresh fish dishes) all the time. Simple recepies, with such wonderfull flavours... With laughable prices! Azucena completo Ceviche, in the "In love with Pulpo" restaurant was one of the best I have ever eaten. Joyfull children, lovelly and smiling men and women live in very colourfull little town. If you like photography, that is the place to go... Turtles spawn in Chacahua beaches... men, women and children look after their eggs. I had the absolute pleasure to help just hatched baby turtles get close to the roaring sea to begin their life journey By night, the star filled sky on top of you... while you row in to luminicent lagoon... Incredible, simply magical!
