  • We went to spend the end of year in this place, where we camped in a Bower called las 3 Marias, which also has cabins and restaurant, all very rustic. The place is frequented by young people who generally respect the space of others, but I believe that it is not recommended for children, because young people tend to smoke more than cigarettes and smell is perceived by all parties. The sea is calm and the beaches tend to be clean. The nearby attractions are the lagoons inhabited by fluorescent microorganisms that you can enjoy boat rides at night and explore the mangroves to pleasure. There is also a nearby turtle, where if you are lucky they will allow you to release baby turtles to the sea right at dusk. There is light and very little sign of cellular telephony and internet. There are enough stores so that you can buy almost everything. Very soon cease to be a rustic place, so if you like camping at the beach and those things, it's worth much to visit this place.

  • Wow. What a place. We planned to visit for a day and ended up staying for 3. We completely fell in love. I don't usually leave many reviews (and I want to keep this place to myself) but Chacahua really is one of those special places. We stayed at a lovely cottage on the lagoon (ask for Ray). Cheap and basic but the view was to die for and you can jump straight off the pier into the lagoon. We ate at a few places but our favourite was Manuel & Connies place on the beach (the hammocks) about 3 or 4 along from the road. They are truly lovely people and Connie is an amazing cook. Manuel took us on a great tour of the lagoon as well. Go there and see them, they are so nice :) You really have to be there to understand chacahua and what it's about. It's not for everyone - if you don't know how to relax or chill and need constant entertainment then this isn't the place for you. But for anyone else, it's magical and will stay with you for a long time. Enjoy :)
