El Tajin, Papantla

(4.8/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Explore the ruins of a formidable city at El Tajin, an archaeological complex and World Heritage Site. The well-preserved city was one of the biggest and most culturally important during the Classic era of Mesoamerica. The height of its powers, between 600 and 1200 CE, saw the construction of the majority of the temples, palaces, and pyramids. Admire the artistry of the carvings on the main temple, showcasing decorative techniques unseen in other contemporary cultures in the region. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to El Tajin and many more Papantla attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Papantla tour planner.

  • A beautiful site, well restored and preserved in a natural setting. Count two hours to visit, see if you want to lie under a tree and hang out a bit. The Museum is very succinct and without much interest. Too bad we can't get on at least a pyramid.
