Palenque ruinas, Palenque
(4.9/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
Observe and inspect impressive ruins and intricate Mayan carvings, surrounded by dense jungle, at Palenque ruinas. At just 2.5 sq km (1 sq mi), the site is fairly small compared to some of the more revered indigenous ruins. That said, archaeologists estimate only about 10% of the city has been excavated, leaving potentially thousands of structures still covered by jungle. Allow yourself plenty of time to admire the site and its rich documented history. Consider hiring a guide to teach you about the site’s interesting history. Put Palenque ruinas on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Palenque tourist route planner.

  • Beautiful Mayan ruins in a truly stunning setting. The ruins are virtually all accessible and the views over the surrounding jungle from above are nowhere quite like it. The best is by taxi or combi to the main entrance and the route to walk down. Here you can take a taxi or the park to return to Palenque.

  • Unfortunately hired a tour that took us to the ruins at 1530 am, by that reason could not enjoy the few buildings are as we had wanted, but with an incredible magic, the green environment, with a vegetation so theme make this a very special place, when we arrived had started the guards playing whistles so people go away because they close approximately 1645 hrs. We are left with the desire to be able to be there awhile more. Highly recommended

  • A stunning set of ruins excavated right out of the jungle. Don't miss the museum either before or afterwards. A private guide is a bit more expensive but well worth it ask him to take you through the ...  more »
