Palenque ruinas, Palenque
Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Observe and inspect impressive ruins and intricate Mayan carvings, surrounded by dense jungle, at Palenque ruinas. At just 2.5 sq km (1 sq mi), the site is fairly small compared to some of the more revered indigenous ruins. That said, archaeologists estimate only about 10% of the city has been excavated, leaving potentially thousands of structures still covered by jungle. Allow yourself plenty of time to admire the site and its rich documented history. Consider hiring a guide to teach you about the site’s interesting history. Put Palenque ruinas on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Palenque tourist route planner.

Very impressive and amazing ruins. I recommend to do the jungle walk before visiting the ruins as you will have a better idea of how big the site is!

There is the opportunity to climb some of the pirámides and even go into one of them. I found much better than chichen Itza pq doesn't have that atmosphere of Disneyland.show original
Marvelous site. An impressive well maintained place. Much more than Tikal. Many locations and beautiful surroundings. A must visit.
